Immune response in Nicotiana benthamiana

Maël and Karl's paper on ZAR1 is published in The Plant Journal (https://doi.org/10.1111/tpj.14547). We collaborated with Eliza Martin and Andrei-Jose Petrescu at the Institute of Biochemistry of the Romanian Academy to carry out structure-function analysis of ZAR1, which was first identified by Jenn in 2010. We found that multiple intramolecular interactions contribute to the regulation of ZAR1 function. In addition, our models of ZAR1 which were generated prior to the publication of the ZAR1 structure were within 2-4 Å of the known structure. Our work identifies molecular determinants of immune receptor function and activation.
