Nate's first first-author paper in the Lewis lab is now available online at Plant, Cell & Environment! Maёl Baudin and Jana Hassan contributed to the research, and our collaborators, Chris Silva, Les Harden and Melissa Erickson-Beltran, at the Western Regional Research Center performed the mass spectrometry. Nate found that the immune receptor ZAR1 interacts with a wide variety of kinases, while simultaneously retaining specific interactions. Nate was able to engineer a stronger interactions with a weakly interacting kinase. This work provides insights into engineering immune receptors for pathogen recognition. Congratulations Nate!
